The inauguration ceremony for the 7th batch (2024/2025) of the Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) external degree program, conducted by the Faculty of Commerce and Management at Eastern University, was successfully held on September 05, 2026, at the University's Nalliah Auditorium.

The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp. Prof. Jeyapraba Suresh, Acting Director of the Centre for External Degrees and Extension Courses, delivered the welcome address. Following this, Prof. N. Rajeswaran, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, delivered the inaugural address.

Mr. T. Paranthaman, Chairman of the Board of Study at the Faculty of Commerce and Management, delivered a special address. Dr. Dilanthi Thavakumar, Head of the Department of Management, provided a comprehensive introduction to the degree program. Subsequently, senior student Ms. S. Sujeeva shared her university experiences, offering excellent guidance to the new undergraduates.

Adding further prestige to the occasion, Prof. S. Gunapalan, Professor of Management at South Eastern University, graced the event as the special guest and delivered an insightful speech regarding the students' future academic and professional goals.

Concluding the first session, Mrs. Lakshmizhangari Dilima, Coordinator of the External Degree Programme, delivered the vote of thanks.

Motivational Sessions & Curriculum Overview

Following the tea break, the second session featured a special motivational speech by Mrs. V. R. Ragel, Senior Lecturer and Former Chairman of the Board of Study, which highly inspired the new intake. After the lunch break, a detailed discussion on the BBM curriculum and its structural framework took place.

This highly informative session was facilitated by Mrs. S. Maheswaranathan, Senior Lecturer and Chairperson of the Curriculum Development Committee, marking the successful conclusion of the event.

The ceremony, which saw the enthusiastic participation of university lecturers, academic staff, and newly enrolled students, served as an excellent foundation for the students' higher educational journey.
