Diploma in English

 

This programme is designed to provide knowledge and skills in the field of English Language Teaching. It provides the necessary advanced language skills for those in employments whose professional advancement in English language would be essential and for those who seek employment opportunities. This offers the opportunity for the participants to earn a qualification that will add value to their professional life.

Entry Requirements:

1. A minimum of three passes in the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) in one sitting in any stream of study or an equivalent qualification.

OR

2. A foundation course equivalent to SLQF level 2 after a minimum of 12 years of schooling followed by passing a selection test to be conducted by the Department of English Language Teaching when the expected number of applications are not received with the entry requirement 1 above.

OR

3. Completion of NVQF Level 4 or accredited work experience or accredited prior learning followed by a corresponding cognitive bridging programme of minimum 30 credits as determined by the academic authority of the HEI concerned may also be considered as equivalent qualification for admission to SLQF Level 3 in a particular field of specialization.

AND

4. A minimum of 'S' pass in the General English Language at General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level).

OR

5. Any other professional or academic qualification which would be accepted by the senate and the council of the university.
