Introduction

The Diploma in Human Resource Management is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of HRM as a central subsystem of an organization. Human Resource Management plays a vital role in helping organizations achieve their strategic goals effectively and efficiently by managing their most valuable asset people[cite: 122].

This Diploma programme equips students with knowledge and skills in key HR functions such as human resource planning, recruitment and selection, orientation and placement, training and development, performance management, and compensation management[cite: 123]. It emphasizes the importance of attracting, developing, and retaining talented employees through well-structured HR policies and practices[cite: 124].

The programme also focuses on building a productive and highly motivating organizational culture while ensuring the effective utilization of existing human resources[cite: 125]. Through a carefully designed blend of subjects covering a wide range of HR competencies, students will be guided to a higher level of academic understanding and professional capability in the field of Human Resource Management[cite: 126].

Structure of the Diploma Program

The Diploma Program is of one year duration, and conducted through blended mode. The curriculum of Diploma Program is designed to suit the various language needs of the learners in the modern contexts and the current challenges that are taking place in technological transformation in the global academic setting.

The Diploma is considered as a way forward for widening the access to higher education to masses at an affordable cost on conditions that are flexible to students. In this context, designing of the structure, curriculum and examination of the entire Diploma Program through blended mode using a combined mode of delivery, namely face to face instructions, self-learning initiatives depended on printed learning material supplemented by on-line and computer-based learning resources.

Each course is taught and assessed based on Intended Learning Outcome (ILO) and Students Centered Learning (SCL) and examination during the course and at the end of the semester.

SLQF Level 03

As the curriculum has been designed according to the credits of qualification descriptors of SLQF, the proposed Diploma in Human Resource Management programme could be positioned at SLQF Level 03.

Entry Qualification
  • Successful completion of General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or
  • A foundation course equivalent to SLQF level 2 after a minimum of 12 years of schooling followed by passing an aptitud test or
  • Completion of NVQ level 4 or accredited work experience or accredited prior learning followed by a corresponding cognitive bridging programme of minimum 30 credit (equivalent to SLQF level 3).
