Introduction

Structure of the Diploma Program

The Diploma in Computer Based Accounting is a one-year programme conducted through a blended mode of delivery. The curriculum is carefully designed to meet the needs of diverse learners in modern learning environments and to address current demands in the rapidly evolving field of accounting and financial management, both nationally and globally.

This Diploma aims to widen access to higher education by offering an affordable and flexible pathway for students who wish to pursue academic and professional development in computer-based accounting and financial systems. The programme equips learners with practical skills in accounting software applications, digital financial reporting, taxation systems, and computerized bookkeeping practices required in modern business organizations.

Each course within the Diploma is structured around clearly defined Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) and follows a Student-Centered Learning (SCL) approach. Teaching and learning strategies emphasize hands-on training, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and real-world application of accounting software and financial tools.

Assessment is conducted continuously throughout the semester and includes practical laboratory assessments, case studies, presentations, assignments, and end-of-semester examinations. Entry Qualification

Passed in any three subjects in G.C.E. (A/L) at any attempt or Completed NVQF Level 4

AND

Passed in any six subjects in G.C.E. (O/L) at any attempt including Mathematics and English or Completed NVQF Level 3


OR

Passed Level 1 AAT Examination / Level I of Chartered Accountancy Sri Lanka (CASL) / Foundation Level of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA-UK) / Foundation Level of Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) / Knowledge Module of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA-UK)


OR

Any other academic or professional qualification on the approval of the Senate by the recommendation of the Faculty Board.
